Kihoku Town

Dates:The second Saturday of the month (not held in January or August)

Update:

Shimokochi Day

On the second Saturday of each month, Asahiya hosts a soba banquet (consisting of a satoyama set meal, tempura soba, and soba noodles). They also sell handmade fresh soba, konjac, and tsukemono (Japanese pickles).

Shimokochi in Kihoku is a settlement that flourished as an exchange hub between the mountains and sea from the Meiji to Showa periods. The area is surrounded by lush vegetation and clear streams, contributing to its rich nature and mountain village landscape.

The Protect Shimokochi Village Association is conducting revitalization efforts through various activities. This includes scenery preservation created by empty homes, unused agricultural lands, and soba-making experiences.
