Kihoku Lantern Festival
This “common feature of summer” takes place on Saturday in late July. Volunteers from children to grandparents devote more than half a year to prepare the props. Huge lantern more than 10m tall and colorful fireworks are worth seeing. Saiun Kujaku which looks like peacock showing off tail is a local unique fireworks. The huge lantern advances spectacularly so it is also called “Nebuta festival on the sea”.
