Legend has it that during the Heian period, Shogun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro buried the head of a demon who was defeated in the "Oniga-jo" underground and built the Oma Shrine on it. There are no guard dogs in the area. It is said that Shishiiwa in Shichili Mihama is the guard dog of Oma Shrine.
