Camping can be enjoyed with family, friends, or solo, and there are various ways to have fun.

The Higashikishu region, which is abundant in nature, has multiple campgrounds.
These include “Camp Inn Miyama” situated along the Choshi-gawa River, which is known for its miraculous clear stream; “Magotaro Auto Camp Site” and “Kii-Nagashima Hiike Kaigan Auto Camp Site” located along the Kumano-nada, “Senmaidai Auto Camp Site” near the Maruyama Senmaida, which is recognized as one of the “100 terraced rice fields of Japan”; “Hisetsu Falls Campsite,” which seamlessly integrates with a waterfall along the Kumano-gawa River; and “Uguisunomori Campground” situated close to the Tsuzurato-toge Pass on the Kumano Kodo Iseji trail.
These diverse camping sites cater to the varying preferences of campers.

1 Camp Inn Miyama [Kihoku-cho]

Camp Inn Miyama is located next to the Choshi-gawa River that has one of the highest water transparency levels in Japan.
The river has gained nationwide recognition through TV and magazine coverage as a miracle clear stream.

Visitors can enjoy observing creatures in the Uotobikei Ravine and the Yurayura-tai*, as well as activities such as Canadian canoeing and mountain stream fishing.
The site also serves as a base for various activities such as trekking on the Kumano Kodo “Magose-toge Pass,” climbing the “Elephant’s Back” at Binshiyama, Wagunohama Beach, and enjoying sea fishing, clam digging, and sea kayaking.

◇Well-equipped with facilities such as cottages, riverside auto sites, forest auto sites, and charcoal grilling houses.

*The “Yurayura-tai” is a phenomenon where seawater and freshwater mix, resulting in a brackish water area that causes the boundary to sway like a gentle wave.

2 Magotaro Auto Camp Site [Kihoku-cho]

Magotaro Auto Camp Site is located in an outstanding natural environment surrounded by mountains and facing the Kumano-nada.

The facility is conveniently situated near various attractions such as the Kumano Kodo trails like the Nisaka-toge Pass and the Tsuzurato-toge Pass, as well as the Jonohama Beach and Michi-no-Eki Kii-Nagashima Manbo (roadside station). Moreover, visitors can enjoy various marine activities.

Additionally, the Tokinoza Onsen is just a three-minute drive away, providing a perfect way to relax after a day of fun.

This camp site is surrounded by nature and located just 100 meters from Hiike Kaigan.
Conveniently located near Kii-Nagashima Furusato Onsen, it’s perfect for those who want to relax and take it easy.

4 Senmaida Auto Camp Site [Kumano City]

Located at the foot of Maruyama Senmaida, one of the “100 terraced rice fields of Japan”, this campsite allows guests to stay with their pets.

It is conveniently located for exploring Maruyama Senmaida, hiking along the Kumano Kodo “Tori-toge Pass,” enjoying water activities in the nearby Itaya-gawa River during summer, and accessing the Kumano Hongu Taisha and Tamaki-jinja.

5 HISETSU FALLS CAMPSITE [Kihoku-cho]

This is a rare camp site in Japan that is located adjacent to a waterfall.
The wide and beautiful waterfall basin is perfect for summer river play, but now it is also attracting attention from sauna enthusiasts across the country as a sacred site for tent saunas.
But where’s the cold bath necessary for saunas, you may ask.
It is none other than the waterfall basin of “Hisetsu-no-taki Falls” with a drop of 30 meters!

While being enveloped in natural mist, there is no doubt that both body and mind will be healed amidst nature by immersing in the waterfall basin after being heated up in the sauna.

6 Uguisu no Mori Camp Site[Kihoku-cho]

Located near the Tsuzurato-toge Pass on the Kumano Kodo trail, this camp site is nestled in a tranquil mountain setting.
Its spacious and peaceful environment and well-maintained facilities are appealing to visitors.

The lightings in the cottages have been designed with starry night views in mind, and they offer stylish and clean amenities, including toilets, baths, and kitchens, making your stay comfortable.

*Facilities include cottages, campgrounds, forest campsites, covered barbecue areas, and a delivery service called “Food Ingredients Delivery,” which aims to promote the consumption of delicious locally sourced ingredients from Mie Prefecture.
