Route features
This route takes you from Kata to Miura in Kihoku Town, passing through 3 passes: Ikkoku-toge Pass, Hirakata-toge Pass, and Miura-toge Pass. This is an easy route that allows you to enjoy a view of Ki-no-Matsushima and other beautiful sights of the Kumano Sea. Hikers taking this route can also explore the rustic seaside towns of Furusato and Doze, and even take a soak in the onsen baths.

Jizo Statue
This is a charming Jizo statue with a little round head located at the foot of the Ikkoku-toge Pass.
Sabohanamichi Observatory
This gives a good view of Furusato Beach and Ki-no-Matsushima. There is also a pavilion here, which is a great spot for your lunch break.
Wakamiya Shrine
This is a quiet shrine that can be found a short distance away from Doze Beach.
Doze Beach
This provides a scenic view of the different islands floating in the horizon. Depending on the season, you may even catch a glimpse of the locals drying algae here, giving a look into what life by the coast is like.
